What can I expect at an appointment?

Each session is completely one-on-one with your physical therapist. Your first session will begin with an open discussion of your health, pregnancy, and birth history as well as your goals and intentions behind seeking care. We will then go through a thorough full body assessment which may or may not include an internal pelvic exam. Together, we’ll formulate an individualized plan of care for conquering your concerns. Subsequent sessions will work through implementing this plan, with constant re-assment and adjustments to keep us on track for success.
Do you accept insurance?

District Pelvic Health is out of network with all insurance companies and payment is due at the time of service. We believe in one-on-one, individualized care that is dictated by you and your healthcare provider, not by an insurance middle man. We will provide a Superbill after each session for you to submit directly to your insurance company for reimbursement if you choose to.
Do I need a referral?

DC and Virginia both have some form of direct access, meaning you do not need a referral to get started. If you plan to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement, they may have different requirements. We suggest reaching out to your insurance company to obtain this information prior to initiating care.
How much does physical therapy cost?
Can I use an FSA or HSA?
Where are you located?

We currently offer in-home concierge physical therapy visits to patients in DC, Arlington, and Falls Church for postpartum visits in the first 12 weeks after delivery. In-home concierge visits are possible outside of this window with advanced planning.

Physical Therapy and Pilates sessions are available on-site inside of Well Body Collective located at 400 N Washington St, Falls Church, VA 22046.

When should I schedule a postpartum appointment?

The general recommendation is to see a pelvic floor PT after your 6-week check-up with your care provider. That being said, in-person and telehealth options prior to your postpartum assessment are available to address immediate concerns affecting your recovery.

Newborn Mamas: getting an appointment on the calendar is enough work. If you don’t feel like leaving the house, we are happy to come to you. This option is available in the first 12 weeks postpartum. Visits outside of this window are possible with advanced planning, inquire for further details.

What is the pelvic floor?

The pelvic floor is a group of muscles, ligaments, and connective tissue at the base of your pelvis. These muscles support your bladder, bowel, and reproductive organs, help control continence, contribute to sexual function, and play a key role in core stability and posture. Just like any other muscle group, the pelvic floor can become weak, tight, or uncoordinated—and that’s where pelvic floor physical therapy comes in.
